Pietro : April 29, 2011. Today was a very. very sad day. I had to say goodbye to my boy. He would have been 13 in just a month and a half. His legs are what failed him. He got to say in his yard all day and it was in his cool, green grass in his mama's arms that he took his last breath. I told him to go to the Rainbow Bridge.

I would like to thank my dear, dear friends Jennifer and Ed for helping me get through the afternoon and to Lori and Keith for loving Puppa and spending time with him last night. He was a very loved boy and he will be missed terribly.

Another year with Mr. Pups. Unfortunately, he wasn't feeling well this December. It was two weeks of vet visits, medicine, special food and a pretty new coat. He's feeling better, but the weather isn't cooperating. It's been in the teens at night and today, December 16, 2010, we got our first real snowfall. For a 12 year old boy, he's doing very well.

December 10, 2009: Pietro has been with us for a year. He's an odd boy, but I think he's happy. He hurt his knee last week and we had to make a trip to the vet. We have had the vet come to us, but we haven't taken him to the office before. I wonder if it's the first time he's been to the vet's office. He did well and his knee is feeling much better. I thought his birthday was in November, but it's in July, so he's older than I originally thought. He's doing very well for an 11 and a half year old large breed dog. Merry Christmas, Puppa!!

Pietro is a ten year old Maremma. He is an Italian guard dog. This poor boy spent his ten years of life on a chain in a small caged area. His owner passed away in November, so the opportunity to save Pietro from this awful life became available. My sister, Paige, went to Pietro's home to rescue the llamas and some of the angora goats that Pietro's owner had been raising. When she saw Pietro chained up in his cage she decided that she just couldn't leave him. He spend three days at Lower Sherwood until Michael and I drove down to Charlottesville to get him. He is going through a big adjustment, but seems to be very happy with his new home. Cee Cee isn't too happy with the new member of the house, but we're hoping that she will come around. We're slowly getting Pietro brushed and cleaned up and introducing him to new things, like toys, chew bones and a big backyard that he can walk around in. There are times when we know he wants to play, but he doesn't really know how. He'll get the hang of it soon, I'm sure.

Goodbye and Thank you : Michael bought his first truck in 1990. We got married in 1991 and this is the truck that moved us and my two cats, Murphy and Pinky to our new home in Valdosta, Georgia. Jane was born in 1992 and this is the truck that brought her home from the hospital. Over the years it moved us from home to home and across country twice. It was stolen in New Mexico. It was found and returned a month or two later. It had been used as a drug vehicle. It took a while to get it cleaned up and running properly again. After that it moved us to Mississippi and then Alabama. It's final move was to Maryland where it has been with us for almost six years. Tomorrow it will go to a new home after Michael donates it to the needy tomorrow, December 28, 2010.

1985 Volvo GL, May 3, 2012 : I bought this little car new in 1985 when I was single and living on Long Island. It's was with me through many life changing events. Tomorrow, May 4, 2012 we are donating it to an organization called Melwood in Maryland. :-(
